curacao Read below. For those of you who have followed the struggles of the remaining colonies in whatever area of the world you have a conection with, you should now notice an emerging pattern. All the colonial holders have formed a united front at the United Nations to dismantle the Decolonisation Committe under the guise of -:1)reformed "constitutions" . 2) unilateral agreements with "goverments of the day" without consultation of the masses. It should be clear by now, that england, france, america and the dutch colonial holders have no intention of allowing their remaining colonies to advance democratically or exercise their basic and inalienable Human Right to govern themselves. Please read below to get an understanding of how this particular colonial holder has appraoched maintaining its colonial control over its colonial territories.
Brutal repression of Anticolonial struggle It is now exactly a year ago that the
government of the Netherlands Antilles This agreement of which the title echoes the fatalism of recolonization still alive in plain XXIst century, has as main objective to eliminate the limited autonomy the Dutch colony in the Caribbean has since the adoption of the Kingdom Charter (Constitution of the Kingdom) of 1954 called Statute. The background of these manoeuvres are to be found in the expansionism of the Dutch industrial and financial capital in search of new markets in the Americas in order to survive within the context of a European Union dominated by the giants Germany, UK and France. What better place to do so than in its colonies. Possible oil fields in the sea surrounding the islands are undoubtedly another important contributing factor to recolonize the Antilles. Next to these aspirations of the Dutch capitalists to maximalize their profits at the expense of the people of the Antilles is the geopolitical situation of the Antilles. Separated by only 38 miles from the North coast of Venezuela, Curacao has a strategic importance as gateway to the Latinamerican subcontinent and the rest of the Caribbean, having on its territory a US military base as well as a Dutch one. The US base, established as is the case with many in the region based on the fallacy of the war against drugs, is the closest strategic point to Venezuela from which the North American empire closely monitors the developments of the Bolivarian revolution and prepares eventually for a military intervention or other hostilities. Facing the selling out of their country which had to be ratified in a meeting between Dutch politicians who had landed in Curacao to accomplish their mission and the local puppet regime, the people went out in the streets to defend their future and that of their children. The government answered by sending anti riot troops, the local police force and the military volunteer corps on the unarmed masses hoping in vane they could stop the people. They could not and won't be able to do so in the future neither because Curacao will become an independent state. We call upon your international solidarity to support the people of Curacao in its just struggle against Dutch colonialism and imperialism and to denounce brutal government oppression of the people. We also want to draw international attention to the other Caribbean territories still occupied by colonialism.
